Annie Gillian Phillips, age 89, of Elwood, Ind., died on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital. She was born on April 26, 1922, in Moundville, Ala., the daughter of Columbus and Edna (Peeples) McCray.
Annie is survived by four of her 13 children, including daughters, Bobbie Ann (Billy Jack) Hunpryes of Elwood, Ind., Mary Joyce Gray of Elwood, Ind., and Diane (Gary Lee) Anderson, of Elwood, Ind.; son, William Edward (Shirley Ann) Phillips Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Ted Jones of Greenbrier, Ark.; and sisters, Bobbie Jean McKenzie of Tampa, Fla., Mildred Wyatt of Tuscaloosa, Alab., and Kay Francis Herring of Forkland, Ala.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William Edward Phillips on Jan. 16, 2005; eight children; one grandson; brothers, Robert McCray and James (Sonny) McCray; and sisters, Pearl Cook and Patricia (Sister) Cochran.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be conducted by Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, Ind. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Dec, 20, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Elwood, Ind., with Pastor Michael Anderson and Rev. Henry Weaver officiating. Burial will follow the services in Curtisville Cemetery in Curtisville, Ind.
