Hugh Lee (Red) Cole, age 82, of Markleville, Ind., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, in Sebring, Fla.

Mr. Cole was born and lived in Greenfield and Hancock County until 1970 at which time he moved to Markleville in Madison County. He was born on March 25, 1929, in Greenfield, the son of the late Noble Fox Cole and Bertha Crider Sanders.

 Mr. Cole graduated from Greenfield High School in 1950. He married his wife of 61 years, Phyllis F. Sanford on Sept. 2, 1950. He was a sergeant in the Indiana National Guard from 1950 until 1952, employed as a tool and die maker at Delco Remy in Anderson, Ind. from 1950 until 1990, was a member and past master at the Markleville Masonic Lodge, a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and traveled with Phyllis extensively throughout the U.S. for many years. He was an avid race car enthusiast. He farmed in Madison County from 1970 to the present.

Mr. Cole is survived by his wife; brother, Gene E. (Julie) Cole of Greenfield; children, Phillip Lee Cole, Penny Luann Ricketts, Susan Renee (Steve) Drinkut, all of Markleville; grandchildren, Shane Williams, Chad Williams, Dustin Cole, Austin Cole, Emma Drinkut, Cole Drinkut, Kyle Drinkut; and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Martha (Cole) Chappel.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson, with Pastor Tom Wiles officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m., conducted by the Markleville Masonic Lodge #629. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
