Ancle Jones, age 91, a resident of Indianapolis and Fountaintown went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, surrounded by loving family and friends. He was born on April 27, 1920, in Tompkinsville, Ky., to William Ray Jones and Effie Ellen (Devis) Jones.

He married Doris Elieen Francis on Dec. 15, 1940, at the home of his grandfather, James Jones, in Tompkinsville, Ky. He began his working career in his family's construction business and later became a skilled mechanic and machinist, retiring from Insley's Manufacturing in 1979.

Over the years, Ancle was an active member of several Missionary Baptist Churches in Ky., and Ind. He was ordained into the ministry in 1956 and for nearly 50 years served the Lord by starting missions, organizing and pastoring churches, and ministering in nursing homes. He most recently was a member of Sunnyside Road Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Ancle is survived by his daughter, Betty (Herbert, deceased) Kremer of Greenfield; sons, Robert (Lou) Jones and Ancle Elvin (April) Jones of Indianapolis; and brother, Bill Jones of Lafayette, Ind. Also surviving him are 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren, and a multitude of wonderful, supportive extended family and friends.

Preceding him in death were his eldest son, James C. Jones; his parents; 5 of his siblings; and his wife of over 70 years, Dorris Jones.

The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude for the loving, compassionate care provided by the Community Hospital Hospice nurses and all the staff of Green Tree at Fort Harrison.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. Sate Road 135, Greenwood, Ind. Pastor John Dimmick will be officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
