Caroline G. Pohland, age 91, of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on June 15, 1920, in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of Christian and Carola (Seebach) Greiff.
Caroline married Albert Pohland on July 11, 1944, and worked as a homemaker. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield. She was also a charter member of Glenn Oaks Garden Club. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, square dancing, stitching, and reading.
Surviving her are her son, Raymond C. (Becky) Pohland of Greenfield; daughter, Susan E. (Greg) Eaton of Brownsburg, Ind.; grandchildren, Patrick (Courtney) Eaton, David (Megan) Eaton, Megan Pohland, Chris (Heather) Pohland, Caitlyn Pohland; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011, at St. James Lutheran Church in Greenfield, with additional visitation taking place for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Larry Gember will be officiating, and entombment will take place at Washington Park East.
