Jerry R. Jones, age 68, of Greenfield, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011. Born on April 16, 1943, in Indianapolis, he was the son of Gerald L. and Leona (Rugenstein) Jones.
Jerry graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Purdue University. He married Karen D. McKinney on Oct. 6, 1967. Jerry worked at Western Electric as a design engineer for many years. Most recently, he worked for General Motors for 22 years until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and loved fishing and spending time with his family.
Surviving him are his wife of 44 years, Karen of Greenfield; children, Jennifer (Chris) Black of Greenfield, Scott (Laura) Jones of Columbus, Matt (Jennifer) Jones of Westfield; sister, Judy Green of St. Paul; niece, Sherry (Chris) Kuhn of Shelbyville; and grandchildren, Seth and Lucas, Emily and Addison, Grady, Kayleigh, and Derek.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at the mortuary. Reverend Dan O’Connor will be officiating.
