Donald Hugh Hesterly, age 72, of New Palestine, died on Oct. 21, 2011. Born on Feb. 16, 1939, in Sayre, Ark., he was the son of Carl Henry and Margaret “Margie” (Creech) Hesterly.
Donald married Shirley Irene Dailey on Nov. 12, 1955, in Marshall, Ark., and owned Don Hesterly Drywall in New Palestine for fifty six years. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Indianapolis for thirty nine years. Don loved fishing, hunting, gardening, the outdoors, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving him are his wife, Shirley Hesterly of New Palestine; son, Jeff Hesterly of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; daughters, Donna (Steve) Hargrove of Greenfield and Paula Hesterly of New Palestine; brother, James Hesterly of Camden, Ark.; sister, Audrey Faye Webb of El Dorado, Ark.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings, Thomas Hesterly and Sandra Barbaree.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Fred Troxell will be officiating. Burial will take place at New Palestine Cemetery.
