Edwin “Ed” L. Jones, age 76, of New Palestine, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, in Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield. The son of Everett O. and Ellen L. Hawxhurst Jones, Ed was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Westport, Ind.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Ed was an engineering lab technician for 27 years for Schwitzer, retiring in 1996.
Ed is survived by daughters, Pamela S. Abel (Alan) of Edinburgh, Ind., and Debra A. Jones (Boon Meksavan) of Schaumburg, Ill; grandchildren, Andrew and Emma Abel, both of Edinburgh; companion, Maxine Wolfal of New Palestine.
Besides his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline L. Burris Jones, whom he married on June 7, 1963, and died Jan. 23, 1985.
Friends called from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2011, in Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel. Services began at 11 a.m. on October 26, 2011 at the Mortuary, 19 East Main Street, New Palestine. Burial followed in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
