Alice R. Crider, age 93, of Charlottesville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Kindred Healthcare, Greenfield. She was born on Feb. 26, 1918, in Fortville to the late Roy R. and Nellie (Welchel) Roudebush. After her mother’s death, due to Alice’s birth, her father and late second mother, Clara (McCarty) Roudebush raised her.

Alice was a 1935 graduate of Greenfield High School and attended Ball State University. She worked as a cashier and loan officer for Greenfield Building and Loan, a clerk for the Selective Service Board during the Korean War, and a clerk for Hancock County REMC. She was a member of the Charlottesville United Methodist Church and its Treasurer for 13 years, a former member of Psi Iota Xi, member of the Charlottesville United Methodist Women, and member of the Bunko Club of Charlottesville. Alice was an avid reader, loved Hershey Bars, enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune & Jeopardy, loved vacationing in Florida, playing bridge, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry L. (Ron) Davis of Charlottesville; son, Steve (Martha) Crider of Bonita Springs, Fla.; granddaughters, Jolee A. (Mark) Smith of Charlottesville, Vicki Crider of Salem, Ore.; grandson, Greg Crider of Charlotte, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Marlee Smith of Charlottesville; and great-grandson, Mason Smith, also of Charlottesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Edith (Harter) Brice.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
