Hazel Posey, age 81, of Knightstown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on March 12, 1930, in Wetmore, Kan., to the late Estel and Hallie (Spiker) Plank.
She had been employed at Western Electric in Indianapolis for 14 years. Mrs. Posey also baked cakes and worked as a caterer for many years. She was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, antiques and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Rick (Mary) Sipes of Muncie, Ind., Mark Posey of Knightstown, Randy (Jayana) Posey of Lewisville, Ind., Brett (Cindy) Posey of Spiceland, Ind.; daughter, Terri Sipes of Knightstown; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ora F. Sipes; her second husband, Frederick Eugene Posey; and two brothers, Gary and Danny Plank.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at the funeral home, with Richard Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
