Ronald “Ronny” K. Elliott, age 75, of Knightstown, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at Henry County Hospital. He was born on June 15, 1936, in Knightstown, the son of Freeman and Corrine (Pettit) Elliott.

Ronny had been a lifelong resident of Knightstown and had served on the Knightstown Town Board. He graduated from Knightstown High School in 1954, and married Erma E. McRoberts December 29, 1956. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1991, after 37 years of service.

He was a member of the Knightstown Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and was a former member of the Eagles Lodge at New Castle. He enjoyed cutting wood, playing cards, golfing and joking around with his friends and family. He also enjoyed bowling and traveling to Chicago for tourneys. Following retirement he restored his 1955 Chevy. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Ronny leaves to cherish his memory, five daughters, Cindy (Marvin) Rees of Glenwood, Ind., Cynthia (Mike) Gasper of Westport, Ind., Rhonda (Anthony) Tompkins of Shirley, Melissa Elliott of Knightstown, Natalie Elliott of Knightstown; son, Kevin (Pam) Elliott of Ogden, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, Brad Elliott of Shirley, Jessica (David) Raynard of Indianapolis, Britney Tompkins of Lewisville, Ind., Paul Gasper of Westport, Ind., Krista (Randy) Gilbert of Anderson, Ind., Katie Tompkins of Greenfield, Corrine Rees of Glenwood, Ind., Jake Tompkins of Shirley, Loys Rees of Glenwood, Ind., Abby Moles of Knightstown, Cordell Dickerson of New Castle, Solomon Rees of Glenwood, Ind., Gavin Elliott of Knightstown; two great grandchildren, Sierra Gilbert of Anderson, Ind., Waylon Key of Greenfield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Erma E. Elliott on Aug. 21, 2011; and his brother, Freeman DeWayne “Dee” Elliott.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. unitl 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the funeral home, with Richard Thayer officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Knightstown Christian Church, Henry County Hospice or American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
