E. Allen Briskey, age 83, of Fortville, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, in Indianapolis. Born on March 11, 1928, in Hicksville, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Amanda (Schwartz) Briskey.
Mr. Briskey got his real estate license in 1965 and worked for Union Federal Savings & Loan for 30 years before retiring as Vice President of Construction.
He married Kay Root on Oct. 3, 1976. Mr. Briskey read his Bible every day and was full of faith and love for his family. He was an active member of Toastmasters and Irvington and Fortville Optimist.
Surviving him are his wife, Kay Briskey of Fortville; children, Sherry Jo (Woody) Armstrong of Creston, Calif., Michael James (Kimberly) Briskey of Bargersville, Ind., Barbara Kay (Jim) Hunter of Cincinnati, Ohio; mother of his children, Delsie Briskey of Greenwood, Ind.; brother, Raymond (Eileen) Briskey of Avon, Ind.; and grandchildren, James and Emile Hunter, Kelly Armstrong, and Ian, Bracken, and Keegan Briskey.
Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Fortville. Funeral services will take place at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Gravel Lawn Cemetery. Reverend John Skomp will be officiating.
