Dorothy Lucille (Willits) Slinkard, age 75, died on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield. Born on May 11, 1936, in Noblesville, Ind., she was the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Stewart) Willits.

Dorothy graduated from Maxwell High School in 1954. She worked for Western Electric as an assembler for 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, AARP, and Brandywine Community Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, doing needlepoint, and spending time with her family.

Surviving her are her son, Steven Slinkard of Greenfield; daughter, Debra (Tom) Pomeroy of Greenfield; brother, Robert Willits of Greenfield; and six grandchildren, Andrew Slinkard, Nathan Slinkard, Sydney Slinkard, Keiria (Jeff) Liberatore, Breanna Pomeroy, and Landon Pomeroy.

Preceding her in death were her parents; the father of her children, Jon P. Slinkard; sister and best friend, Evelyn Silverthorn; and brother Jonathan Willits.

 Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, also at the mortuary. Reverend Matt Wickham will be officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville.
