Nila J. (Willis) Conaway, age 77, died on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Born on April 26,1934, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Roscoe G. and Mildred L. (Arvin) Willis.
She married Wilbur Dean Conaway on Oct. 8, 1954. Nila was a mother and homemaker, she loved to cook and paint.
Surviving her are her children, Connie (Mark) Roberts of New Palestine, Gloria (Roger) Ward of Greenfield, and David (fiancé Candy Roudebush) Conaway of Greenfield; Siblings, Judy (Clayton) Thomas of Cumberland, and Frank (Marilyn) Willis of New Palestine; many nieces and nephews; 9 grandchildren, Kelly McDole, Stephanie Littell, Brandon Roberts, Nicholas Roberts, Zachary Roberts, Nathan Ward, Corey Ward, Jacob Conaway, and Jordan Conaway; and 15 great-grandchildren, Shane, Isabelle, Bryce, Eli, Alexis, Logan, Ezra, Isaiah, Haley, Victoria, Zeke, Elliana, Rebekah, Little Nate, and Adrian.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Roscoe Willis and Mildred Fry; husband, Wilbur Conaway; and brother, Ralph Willis.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, also at the mortuary. Pastor David Woods will be officiating. Entombment will follow at Washington Park East in Indianapolis.
