Charles E. “Ed” Fort II, age 73, of Knightstown, passed away on Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 31, 1937, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Glenn and Dorothy Fort.
A 1955 graduate of Knightstown High School, Ed served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in New Castle after 33 years of service. Ed was a member of UAW Local # 371 and a member of American Legion Post #152. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon E. Fort of Knightstown; sons, Donald A. Fort of Knightstown; Stephen M. (Barbara) Fort of New Paris, Ohio, and Charles E. (Colleen) Fort of Howell, Mich.; grandchildren, Sean Fort, Cole & Carson Fort, Jordan Andrus and Brooklynn Marie Fort; brother, Kenneth (Jayne) Fort of Roswell, Ga.; sister-in-law, Barbara Fort of Anderson, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Fort.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
