Phyllis L. Hysong , age 67, of Greenfield, Ind. passed away at home late in the evening of Aug. 4, 2011, surrounded by her family. Phyllis was born and raised in Willow Branch, Ind. and was the daughter of Marjorie (Taylor) and Dwight Moore.

She graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1963. It was there that she met and later married her high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years, William Hysong.

Phyllis was happily employed most of her life in the banking industry. She prided herself on hard work, loyalty, and honesty. Her family and friends will remember her most for her mental and physical toughness, having survived two car accidents and then a battle with cancer, which claimed her life. She was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church of Markleville and Eden Order of Eastern Star #101. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her time in retirement traveling with her husband, family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was often seen working with her koi pond. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching basketball and football and was a diehard Colts/Pacers fan.

Survivors include her husband, William Hysong; son, Dean (Terry) Hysong; daughter, Deborah (AJ) Spoerner; sister, Marilyn Strange; five grandchildren, Christina Haddin, Jessica (John) Dugan, Jonathan Redmon, Grace Spoerner, Zachary Spoerner; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie (Taylor) and Dwight Moore.

Friends may call at Condo & Son Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 8, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Eastern Star service will start at 7:30 p.m. by Eden Lodge #101. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson, Ind.
