Willie A. Talbott, age 82, died Monday, July 25, 2011 at Golden Living Center in Greenfield. Born on March 18, 1929 in Clinton County, Ky., he was the son of Herschel and Bessie (Thomas) Talbott.

He served as a 1st Class Sergeant of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Mildred (Forbes) Talbott on June 20, 1952, and they were married for 59 years.

He worked for Roadway Express as a road driver for 20 years before retiring in 1990. He is a member of First Friends Meeting in New Castle. He was a member of SPEBSQSA, Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, in Connersville, Raintree Woodcarvers, and Old Road 40 Woodcarvers. He enjoyed chip carving and doing various wood working projects.

Surviving Willie are his wife, Mildred Talbott of Greenfield; sons, Mark Talbott of Mishawaka, Paul Talbott of Greenfield, David Talbott of Indianapolis; daughters, Jennifer Helling of Minnetonka, Minn., Carol Smith of Altamonte Springs, Fla., Brenda Raver of Tipton, Ind.; brother, James Talbott of Mooreland, Ind.; sisters, Wanda Baumgartner of Anderson, Juanita Harger of Noblesville, and 13 grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Herschel and Bessie Talbott; sister, Marie Ellis; brothers, Norman Talbott, and Keen Talbott.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. also at the mortuary. Pastor Curt Shaw will be officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
