Maurice B. “Ben” Hewitt, age 90, a resident of Greenfield passed away Saturday morning July 23, 2011 at Golden Living Center at Brandywine, Greenfield. He was born Feb. 23, 1921 in Creston, Iowa to the late Benjamin and Florence (Abbott) Hewitt.
Mr. Hewitt proudly served his country during WW II with the US Coast Guard aboard the DE-930 Calcaterra. He retired after 25 years of service with the U.S. Postal Service, Greenfield Branch, in 1985.
He is survived by; son, Philip Steven (Catherine) Hewitt; daughter, Janet (Jim) Maurice; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren and a brother, Merle Hewitt.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evaughn Reed Hewitt, daughter, Pamela Herwig and his second wife, Lucille Downey Hewitt.
A graveside service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 28, 2011 at Park Cemetery, Greenfield with visitation 1 hour prior to service at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield.
