Kenneth R. Melton, 74, of Fortville, passed away July 15, 2011 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born Sept. 9, 1936 in Fortville to the late Julius R. and Margaret E. (Bell) Melton.
Ken retired from Ford Motor Company as a quality control inspector in 1995 after 39 years. He was a member of the Family Life Commuity Church in Pendleton, a member of UAW Local No. 1111 and had been a member of the Indiana National Guard. Ken enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting, fishing, archery, travel and golf. His favorite activity was riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by wife Shirley (Sylvester) Melton whom he married June 22, 1957; children, Tracee A. (Steven) Wolf of Fortville, Mark (Lori) Melton of Oakwood, Ga. and Lisa K. Melton of Fortville; grandchildren, Megan (Joe) Calhoun, Matthew Hansing, Dustin, Shelbie, Abby and Sadie Melton.
Friends may call on Sunday, July 17, 2011 from 2 to 6 pm at the funeral home, Fortville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Seals Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Kellermeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
