Mary Madeline (Prage) Johns, age 100 years and 30 days, a resident of Greenfield since 1933, passed away Saturday night, June 18, 2011 at Golden Living Center, Brandywine.

She was born May 19, 1911 in Elizabeth, Ind., the 13th and youngest child of the late John Christian and Sophia Johanna Dorthea (Madaus) Prage.

Mary was an accomplished pianist and as a young woman was a Sunday School teacher, youth group leader and pianist for her beloved Elizabeth Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield for over 50 years, and a 50 + year member of the Miriam Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of Greenfield. She was a beloved mother and grandmother and enjoyed flowers, gardening, piano, baking, and quilting.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Ann Jones, “Susie” Mary Margaret (Larry) Circle, both of Greenfield; daughter-in-law, Janice Johns of Greenfield; grandchildren, Molly Kristina (Paul) Sawyer of Centerville, Ohio, Mary Jennifer (Tyler) Ewing of Muncie, Ind., Megan Louisa (Shane) Krugler of Liberty Township, Ohio, Amy Lee (Steve) Winkle of Charlottesville, Ind., Lori Kay Childers of Greenfield, Howard Alan (Rhonda) Johns of Rushville, Ind.; great grandchildren, Madelyn Jackson, Tyler & Brady Sawyer, Hudson & Ella Rose Ewing, Cassie & Jacob Winkle, Taylor Childers, Caleb, Kaitlyn & Kristin Johns; great – great grandchildren, Landon & Zoey Winkle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Franklin Johns; son, Howard Prage Johns; sisters, Margaret Prage, Matilda Garrison, Ella Prage, Elsie Glaze, Sophia Glaze, Joanna Winders, Helen Barger; brothers, Amzi, Herman, Walter, John and Herbert Prage.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield with Pastor John Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, Greenfield. Friends may call Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
