Helen V. Brooks, 92 years of age, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born Oct. 15, 1918, in Shelby County to the late Charles and Grace (Webb) VanScyoc.
Helen retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis after 33 years of service. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, United Methodist Church, and her love was farming with her husband and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Adeen (John) Hargrove of Wilkinson, Larry (Vicki) Brooks of Wilkinson, Lynn (Nila) Brooks of Wilkinson; six grandchildren, Julie Armstrong, Lisa Deeter, Stacie Stinefield, Phil Brooks all of Greenfield, Shannon Brooks of Atlanta, Ga., and Kyle Brooks of Wilkinson; plus numerous great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Vernice Brooks in 1989; brother, Paul VanScyoc.
It was Helen’s wishes to have a private family service only. Burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Arrangements are being handled by Condo and Son Funeral Home, Wilkinson.
