Fred “Buddy” L. Menser, age 66, of Greenfield, passed away on March 9, 2011. Born on March 16, 1944, in Paducah, Ky., he was the son of William and Nellie I. (Orten) Menser.

Fred graduated from Heath High School in Ky., and married Patty J. Hendricks on April 29,1977, in Greenfield. After serving his country in the United States Navy, he spent the next 44 years as a job setter for Ford Motor Company before retiring in 2007.

Fred was an honorable Kentucky Colonel who enjoyed a good joke and a good smoke. He also enjoyed golfing, his garden, fishing, and home brewing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving him are his wife, Patty Menser of Greenfield; sons, Ken (Kathy) Menser of Fishers and Steve (Rene) Menser of Greenfield; daughter, Lisa (Rob) Early of Greenfield; step-daughter, Tricia Vipperman of Fla.; siblings, Bill, Glenn, Harold, Freda, Betty, and Sissy, all of Ky.; and grandchildren, Logan, John, Taylor, Jacob, Braeden, Xavier, Charles-Wallace, and Alex.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Chester.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m.on Monday, March 14, 2011, at the mortuary. Pastor Jon VanderWier will be officiating and burial will take place at Philadelphia Cemetery in Philadelphia.
