Beverly Jean Splater, age 88, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Morristown Manor. She was born on July 20,1922, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Arlie and Ethel (Edwards) Taflinger.

Mrs. Splater married Rader S. Splater in March of 1943. She worked at U.S. Rubber in Washington, Ind., as a payroll clerk and as a secretary for Dr. John Long. Additionally, she owned her own catering business for about ten years- “Catering by Jean.” She attended Greenfield Christian Church where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Greenfield Country Club, the Greenfield Community Choir, and the Hospital Guild.

Surviving her are her son, Rader “Mike” (Vicki) Splater of Greenfield; grandchildren, Lori (Wayne) May and Jonathan (Chris) Splater, both of Hancock County; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Luke and Lainie Splater, and Kyle, and Collin May.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; one sister; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with a viewing 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
