Betty June (Wable) Ward, age 82, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at her residence in Mohawk. She was born on June 18, 1928, in Anderson. She was the daughter of Clarence and Emma (Yingling) Wable.

Mrs. Ward graduated from Lapel High School. She married Walter S. Ward on Oct. 18, 1947 in Lapel. Mrs. Ward was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family and raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the neighborhood children. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary #119 in Greenfield, where she formerly served as the sergeant-at-arms. Mrs. Ward attended Mohawk United Methodist Church for about ten years. She also loved donating to her favorite charities, including the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Surviving her are her children, David (Nikki) Ward of Mohawk, Patty “Jeannie” Ward of Willow Branch, Ruth Anne Young of Noblesville, and Janice Sue Bowen of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Timothy (Norma) Ward, Carrie Dillon (John Illy), Joshua Ward (Jeny Whitfield), Mike Ramey, Tony (Jennifer) Young, Mary (Jason) Walden, Cory (Christina) Bowen, and Allissa Bowen (Josh Taylor); 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Owena Wable of Summitville; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Walter S. Ward; parents, Clarence and Emma Wable; brothers, Jake, Alvin, Tom, and Jack Wable; and sisters, Lucielle Webb and Barbara Swinford.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011, at the mortuary. Reverend Greg Pimlott will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
