Gordon M. Mott, age 87, of Greenfield, passed away on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on June 8, 1923, in Pontiac, Ill., he was the son of Ira and Pearl (Bentley) Mott.

Gordon graduated from Pontiac High School and attended Indiana College of Mortuary Science. He married Mary C. Robb on Nov. 20, 1948, in Indianapolis, and worked at Ford in assembly for over 20 years before retiring in 1986. Mr. Mott was a member of the UAW and the Tanker’s Association. He was also formerly a United States Marine who fought during WWII. Surviving him are his wife, Mary C. (Robb) Mott of Greenfield; sons, Robert D. Mott of Dover, Delaware and Douglas E. (Sandra) Mott of Greenfield; brother, Keith Mott of Decatur, Ill.; sister, Myrna Anderson of Fla; grandchildren, Rebekah, Jonathan, Nathan, Philip, Laura, Christina, and Steven; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma and Marjorie; and brother, Delmar.

Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield with visitation taking place for one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Woods will be officiating.
