Dennis Reed "Bud" Talbert, age 73, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011, at the Morristown Manor in Ind. He was born on Aug. 27, 1937, the son of the late Loren and Dorcas (Reed) Talbert.
He was a farmer and formerly owned Bud's Excavation Company from 1969 until retiring in 1997. Mr.Talbert was a member of Gwynneville United Brethren Church, Morristown Masonic Lodge, Morristown Chamber of Commerce and was a past president of the Morristown Lions Club. He graduated from Morristown High School in 1955.
Survivors include his wife, Claire Kay Talbert of Shelbyville; Sons, Brian (Sherry) Talbert of Shelbyville; Tom (Diana) Talbert of Orleans, Ind., Bruce (Michelle) Talbert of Kent, Wash.; daughter, Hope (Jon) Nett of Bedford; Daughter-in-law, Susan Williams Talbert of Zionsville; brother, Joe Talbert of Morristown; sister, Elma Six of Greenfield; six grandchildren, Josh (Danielle) Talbert, Lissa Talbert , Sara Talbert, Aaron Talbert, Katie Talbert and Kristen Talbert.
He was also preceeded in death by his son, Todd Talbert; and sister, Bonnie Adams.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at Freeman Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown, IN 46161. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Asbury Cemetery.
