Daniel P. Burris, age 65, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011 at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on July 21, 1945, in Indianapolis.

He was the son of Homer I. and Lois A. (Reynolds) Burris. Mr. Burris graduated from Southport High School in 1964 and served in the Army National Guard from 1965 until 1971. He worked for Eli Lilly and Company in Greenfield as an industrial engineer for 34 years until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Burris was a member of the Indiana Toastmasters and served as their governor in 1975. He was also a member of the MG Club and was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan.

Surviving him are his children, Kelli (Shane) Burris-Kaboski, Anson P. (Michelle) Burris, and Tami Burris, all of Greenfield; sister, Sue Burris of Calif. ; grandchildren, Taylor, Desiree, Kortni, Anson II, Emma, Madison, Samara, and Sophi; and the mother of his children, Shari Burris of Greenfield.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Erwin Burris.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb.18 at the mortuary. Pastor Paul Galbraith will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
