Beverly Joanne (Bigelow) Jeffers, age 81, passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at Brandywine Golden Living Center in Greenfield. Born on April 16, 1929, in Tawas City, Mich., she was the daughter of Allie A. and Mabel Jenny (Mann) Bigelow.
She graduated from Tawas High School in Tawas City, Mich. Beverly married James E. Jeffers, Jr. on Feb. 23, 1980, in Terre Haute, Ind. Beverly worked for Veterans Affairs as an Assistant Chief for 11years before retiring in 1986. She had also worked for the Selective Service System as a Draft Board Operator. Mrs. Jeffers was a member of Heather Hills Baptist Church and was an avid Colts fan.
Surviving her are her husband, James Jeffers, Jr.; children, Todd L. (Patty) Rowe of Greencastle, Michael E. Jeffers of Greenfield, Kimberly A. (Brian) Brown of Tangier, and Linda S. Hess of Va.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Phyllis J. Lott and Dorothy J. Boudler; and brother, Arthur Bigelow.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, with visitation half an hour before, at Heather Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis. Reverend Bob Hays will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
