Lawrence Carl Sweet, 66, of Greenfield, passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Waterloo Ridge, Ky. and was the son of the late Voida and Della (Carter) Sweet.

Lawrence attended Greenfield High School, served in the U.S. Army and worked for F.E. Harding Asphalt Company for 23 years. He was a member of the Greenfield VFW, and Greenfield American Legion Post #119. He loved to fish, hunt and ride his Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Charlene (Lynch) Sweet of Greenfield; sons, Larry Sweet of Ore., Terry Sweet of Calif., and Mark (Chris) Sweet of Greenfield; daughter, Christy (Chris) Emmons of Greenfield; brother, Ralph (Sue) Sweet of Wilkinson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; cousins; and three beloved beagles, Harley, Buck and Lady.

He was preceded in death by six brothers; and two sisters.

A Celebration of Lawrence’s Life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Curry’s Chapel Cemetery with military rites provided by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. The family has requested in honor of Lawrence that the dress attire be casual.
