Sherry Ann (Cox) Melton, 74, of Greenfield, formerly of McCordsville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Fair Oaks, Ark. to the late Purl and Elouise (Dickerson) Cox.

Sherry was a 1953 graduate of Fortville High School and served as an Avon representative for 37 years. She also co-owned and operated M&M Cleaning. She was a member of McCordsville United Methodist Church and was involved in all things church-related including the United Methodist Women. Sherry enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and was an avid Indianapolis Colts and NASCAR fan.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristin (Brad) Wilson of Fortville; granddaughter, Raven Wilson; brother, W.L. (Pat) Cox of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Melton; and sister, Medora Goff.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Seals Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fortville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at McCordsville United Methodist Church, McCordsville. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, Fortville.
