David A. Thomas, 75, of Pendleton, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on Feb. 3, 1935, in Hancock County, and was a Pendleton resident since 1961.

David owned and operated the House of Service in Pendleton for 44 years retiring in 2004. He was a 1953 graduate of Wilkinson High School; a US Army veteran; National Rifle Association member; past member Pendleton Optimist Club; and past board member of Pendleton Heights High School Building Trades Program. David was an avid hunter, gardener, and outdoorsman.

Survivors include his six children, Patricia (James) Boone of Maysville, Ky., Lisa Lenz of Houston, Texas, Michael David Thomas of Crosby, Texas, Cami (Kenny) Wiggins of Pearland, Texas, Michael Duane (Lisa) Baxter of Knightstown, and Tonya R. Norris of Greenfield; sister, Diana (William) Darling of Wilkinson; brother, William E. (Rosemary) Thomas of Sarasota, Fla.; brother-in-law, Roger Fleming of Greenfield; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Dick Godbey and Mike Coons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Ruth (West) Thomas; wife, Patricia "Charli" (Barnett) Thomas; and a sister, Linda R. Fleming.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton. Ryan McCarty will officiate. Burial will follow in Grove Lawn Cemetery, Pendleton.
